Iggy Pop of The Stooges gear stolen after concert..

It’s no fun for the Stooges today in Montreal. The legendary rock band lost everything.

The Michigan rock band is counting its losses after yesterday morning’s theft of its rented tour truck, packed with all of the group’s instruments and stage gear.

The equipment’s dollar value is estimated to be in the fifteen thousand dollar range. Many of the items are priceless , including a vintage Gibson bass that had been Mike Watt’s go-to instrument since his Minutemen days in the 1980s, realistically it should go in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame someday, Eric Fischer, the band’s road manager mentioned.

The yellow, enclosed Penske truck was discovered missing by Fischer about 7:30 in the morning. It had been parked on the street directly in front of the Embassy Suites hotel in Montreal, where Iggy Pop and his band mates had lodged after their Sunday night concert — their first Canadian show in more than three decades. Inside was everything from Scott Asheton’s drum kit to Ron Asheton’s guitars and amps.

The Stooges will still make their scheduled Wednesday gig in Toronto, Fischer said, using rented and donated equipment. Other stops on their concert tour will be in Belgium, Britain, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Serbia, Spain, The Czech Republic and The USA.

The stolen truck was found a few hours ago, however it was abandoned and empty. Difficult stuff to sell in an open market.

He is sometimes referred to by the nicknames “the Godfather of Punk” and “the Rock Iguana”, and is widely to be one of the most dynamic stage performers.
