Considering that Hendrix had a habit of directing rage towards people around him and alienating them (nearly went to prison, was kicked out of the service, nobody really liked to work with him) anyone could have killed him. But I think it was Keith Richards who killed Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix wasn't so deep into drugs until he had contact with the Rolling Stones. Then again, Purple Haze was actually a tradename for a narcotic. I think wasted youth, booming success and the onslaught of exceeding pressure from the music industry is what most likely killed Jimi. Music was his real drug and with the constant live concerts, it was starting to lose it's potency; the songs were losing their luster to him so he turned to drugs. I think he needed a break and studio time. Probably better he died at 27 as a legend then to try to make it through the 80's having to compete against the Pet Shop Boys. Think of it this way, SRV went through some tough addiction, made it out only to be killed in a horrific helicopter crash and if that hadn't happened, what would he be playing today? That's life, those guys die short, and Amy Winehouse is still walking the planet looking like a bag of coat hangers and churning out garbage from the heart.

Hendrix also didn't get his own earnings. Was his manager the same guy who swindled him out of those? and if this story is true wasn't he killing the goose that laid the golden eggs?
All of this makes me think of the crossroad legend. Maybe Jimi made his best deal, and the devil came to get him when his time was up. Thanks for this article. It's great food for thought.

M. Jeffrey sounds like he's part of the thieves that Ayn Rand describes in Atlas Shrugged. Out of envy and greed, their sole purpose is to ruin people who aspire to greatness.
