In reference to the above comment about listening to what other guitarists play, yeah definitely, certainly can’t let it choke your own style out though…

Daniel, I mentioned to my wife just today that it was very important for me to listen to lots of Jimi Hendrix and Voodoo Child. I told her it made me a better player!lol

It is interesting how vibes get passed down. John Mayer may be the next SRV. Like SRV is a combo of so many other vibes.

If you don’t mind, i’d like to add one thing. I’ve come to notice that listening to guitarists is one of the biggest steps into playing. I mean, it’s probably a given but its more important than playing the guitar itself, in my opinion. That’s why you hear guitarists name when describing another guitarist such as, “I hear a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan in John Mayer’s playing”, or “I hear Albert King in Stevie’s playing” or more dramatically, “The spirit of Robert J is in Eric Clapton and his playing.”

Yea. Listening is important. lol
