Electric Guitar wiring Diagrams and Schematics

The challenge of repairing guitars is a constant learning process. ‘Practice makes perfect’ is a great saying and directly applies to guitar repairs too. Except no one is perfect or produces perfect results at anything every time. The two most sought after questions regarding tone have to do with the electric guitar wiring underneath the covers that protect them. It’s a mystery to most folks, especially if you are looking for a specific diagram, or something you dreamed up and want to perform to your guitar.

Tone freaks will go to any extent to get the perfect sound. This type of tone is not the average low hanging fruit that they wish it was, you need a tall ladder to pick this fruit. Once the fruit is picked, the secret is usually well guarded and locked up for ever.

The Jeff Beck Fender Stratocaster diagram or schematic is a popular request. A lot of folks would not mind sounding like Jeff Beck, who is nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. I also happen to have this schematic of Jeff’s personal wiring setup.

Realistically, we know that Jeff Beck’s super tone comes from his super skills, and a lot of practice. However, we have fun upgrading and changing electronics in our electric guitars. And, it is my experience that only well seasoned musicians can really tell the difference.

This is a fairly straight up setup, not like the active guitar tone controls, as in the Eric Clapton Stratocaster. Considering the wealth of tone changing devices such as the EMG-SPC active EQ circuit. The list of products to experiment with is endless. With respect ot DIYer’s, I would not recommend messing around with soldering and general electrical modifications without some soldering and guitar electric background. One definitely does not want to damage any electric components by hooking stuff up wrong.
