Texas Flood “El Mocambo” Stevie Ray Vaughan…

by Daniel R. Lehrman on March 6, 2009

A short while ago I presented a post on a cool Stevie Ray Vaughan lick. It is just one of many licks in the song. Another emotionally charged song, by guitar player Stevie Ray , about love. Listen to it, it ain’t about the weather. At the 4:33 minute to 4:47 minute time in the song you can hear it, Stevie Ray Vaughan style by Stevie Ray.

I have the lick fairly well nailed by now. It took a while, but I wanted you to listen to it in the song. I know it is torture to listen to Stevie Ray, just do it. The song is one of my favorites, I listen to it all the time and never get tired of it, now I will learn it. Listen and look at the lick presented by: StevieSnacks – Awesome 5-4-1 walkdown from Texas Flood at El
by clicking the above link, hear and see SRV do it for real in the song. Pretty easy, eh? lol!

A short while ago a ‘little birdie’ landed on my shoulder and suggested I diversify my song book to some more popular songs from my era. Advise is well taken as you can see in a logical approach to rhythm and rhythm methods exposed, and I do practice what was advised, but I always drift back to the blues, jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

This is a GuitarPlayersCenter favorite. Enjoy the Live Stevie Ray version and give the lick a try. Let me know who nails the lick down. Enjoy.
